Diving into GoldfrappÕs most recent album is a pleasant journey, but one that must be made without any expectations. Especially not if the glitterball glamour of 2005's Supernature is your touch-point for the duo of Allison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, or their vampy electroclash outings that came before. Seventh Tree is a beautifully arranged record, soft vocals dressed on top of electronic sounds blended into a thick stew of orchestral compositions served in a pop pastry. It is as lush as past Goldfrapp work, yet with the lam� replaced by comforting wool. The neon lights turned down to sunset's countryside haze.
The album has a consistent tone that grows from somber to playful as it rolls along. There is a distinct difference in their approach to Seventh Tree that is wonderful and demonstrates a unique ability to present diverse styles and settings for the listener to explore. Each track¤on...
